Sign a Pledge to Support Dissection Choice

Many students in the United States have serious moral, ethical, or religious objections to dissecting animals. They want no part in activities that involve purchasing animals who had the misfortune of being reared on a factory farm (e.g., pigs) or fur farm- (e.g., mink), taken from the wild (e.g., frogs), taken as wasteful "by-catch" from fisheries (e.g., sharks) or euthanized because of pet overpopulation (e.g., cats).

Some of these students are forced to make a difficult decision—carry out the dissection or be penalized with a lower grade or be forced to drop the course. Given the vast number of proven, cost-effective, alternatives available and the increasing number of states allowing students a choice, no student should ever be forced to dissect.
