Maryland's research animals are much closer to receiving a second chance on life.
SB 420/HB 528 would allow dogs and cats formerly used in experimentation at Maryland research facilities to live a normal, loving life as an adopted companion animal once their time in the laboratory is over.
Current federal law regulates the care and use of research animals while they are in the laboratory with bedding, food, water access, enrichment devices and pain management, however, such protections are eliminated once the research is complete, other than in regards to euthanasia.
Your voice is needed now to give these animals the opportunity to retire in peace.
Calling is the one of the most effective actions you can take. Please take a moment to call your state delegate and state senator now. Look up your legislator's phone number. You can say: "Please promote better lives for dogs and cats in Maryland laboratories by supporting SB 420/HB 528."
