Use the Farm Bill to protect animals!

Twice a decade, Congress passes a Farm Bill, which is a compilation of food and farm issues bundled into one massive package. As the U.S. Senate takes up the bill, we have an incredible opportunity to press for inclusion of some of our key animal protection bills. We must also be ready to fight against any efforts to add dangerous language that could hurt animals.

Please urge your U.S. Senators to support the inclusion of three animal welfare bills -- the Dog and Cat Meat Trade Prohibition Act, the PACE Act, and the OFF Act -- in the Farm Bill. These three bills already have tremendous bipartisan support and the Farm Bill is an ideal vehicle to get them passed.

Please also urge your Senators to oppose the inclusion of anything like Rep. Steve King’s amendment (H.R. 4879) that was added to the House Farm Bill. His, dangerous anti-states’ rights legislation could undercut the will of the people and force state and localities to allow the sale of dangerous and inhumanely-produced products.

TAKE ACTION
Please take a moment to call your two U.S. Senators; you can find their phone numbers here. You can say, "As your constituent, I urge you to support inclusion in the Farm Bill of critical animal protection bills -- the Dog and Cat Meat Trade Prohibition Act, the PACE Act on animal fighting (S. 2971), and the OFF Act to hold the USDA's checkoff programs accountable and prevent misuse of checkoff dollars to lobby against animal welfare reforms (S. 741). Please also oppose inclusion of any language similar to Rep. Steve King’s legislation -- H.R. 4879 that he got added to the House Farm Bill. King’s legislation poses a very real threat to animals and consumers across the country."

Calling is so important. Please do not skip this crucial step. Then, personalize and submit the letter below to send a follow-up message.

Your Message

Dear Senator,

As your constituent, I am urging you to support inclusion of three critical animal protection bills in the Farm Bill. All of these bills -- the Dog and Cat Meat Trade Prohibition Act, the PACE Act, and the OFF Act (S. 741) -- have broad bipartisan support and the Farm Bill is an ideal vehicle to get them passed.

I also strenuously object to Rep. Steve King's legislation (H.R. 4879) that he got added to the House Farm Bill, and urge you to do all you can to ensure that nothing like this is enacted. Rep. King's legislation could undercut the will of the people and force states and localities to allow the sale of dangerous and inhumanely-produced products.

Sincerely,
