A landmark animal welfare bill is being pioneered in California and you can show your support! The Protect Dogs from Unnecessary Testing Act, SB 252, would prohibit cruel and unnecessary toxicity testing on dogs.
Nationally, there are more than 60,000 dogs in research facilities. These dogs are bred to live their entire lives confined in laboratory settings and are commonly used for product testing. Not only would this bill spare dogs in California from unnecessary and painful chemical testing, it would also pave the way for similar state and federal laws to save even more lives.
Advancements in technology are moving us closer to the day when no animals are used for testing and research and are replaced with more effective ways to address human health and safety. A number of humane alternatives already are in place and proving superior to animal use.
