Athens, OH: Grassroots Meeting, March 14, 2014 Ohio University Baker Center, Room 347
The Humane Society of the United States invites our members and supporters to join John Dinon, HSUS Ohio Director of Outreach and Engagement, to discuss current issues and learn what you can do for animals in Ohio.
This Ohio Animal Welfare Update will include a discussion of pending and proposed animal welfare legislation as well as some of the Humane Society of the United States' animal protection programs.
The presentation will include recent successes like Ohio's puppy mill bill, dangerous exotic animal restrictions, and the Livestock Care Standards board. We will also discuss ongoing challenges including passing a felony cockfighting bill and legislation to include pets in personal protection orders (restraining orders), outlaw bestiality, end euthanasia by gas chamber, and other important issues. We will also discuss The HSUS farm animal protection programs, including the recently formed HSUS Agriculture Advisory Council for Ohio.
RSVP today to make a difference for animals. Contact John Dinon at jdinon@humanesociety.org if you have any questions.
