Yes! I'd like to help stop the practice of mercy release by making a special gift to Humane Society International.
Mercy release is not at all merciful. Help us stop this cruel practice by making a gift today.
Despite good intentions, the Buddhist practice of mercy release—in which animals are freed as a means of creating good karma—causes suffering to animals and harm to the environment. Most animals used in this practice are only caught in order to be released, and are often injured during capture, confinement, or transport. When turned loose into inappropriate habitats, they die or become a threat to ecosystems.
Humane Society International is working to educate potential practitioners and the public around the world about the detrimental effects of mercy release. With your help, we can spread the word and encourage those interested in creating good karma to engage in acts that are truly compassionate towards animals.
Please make a donation to our campaign to end mercy release. Your tax-deductible* gift will go to our campaign to end mercy release and to other programs that protect animals worldwide.
