60 percent of Walk Humane of Montauk’s net proceeds stay in the area to benefit the programs of two local shelters. Remaining proceeds support The Humane Society of the United States' national efforts.

How the shelters benefit

The HSUS provides resources and structure for Walk Humane, and a community coordinator helps to organize it. Two local nonprofit shelters each receive 30 percent of the net proceeds (60% total) to use toward programs like spay/neuter, pet adoption, and feral cat rescue. Other benefits include:

The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons provides for the welfare of dogs and cats on the South Fork of Long Island through shelter and adoption services, medical care, spaying and neutering programs, community outreach and humane education.

Bideawee’s mission is to promote safe, loving, long-term relationships between people and companion animals by providing a continuum of services and programs that are innovative, personalized and high quality.
Programs/Services
Founded in 1974, the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons is the leading animal welfare organization on the East End of Long Island. Each year ARF admits over 700 cats and dogs and provides food, exercise, a warm place to sleep, and excellent veterinary care in our state-of-the-art Adoption Center located on 22 acres. ARF is dedicated to finding loving homes for our precious pets not only to improve their lives but also the lives of the families who adopt them. Programs include: Operation Cat (a feral cat trap/neuter/return program), Dog Obedience Classes, PUP (People United with Pets), Pet Therapy, Shinnecock Indian Nation Food Drop, and Pet Bereavement Support Groups.
Programs/Services
Bideawee, which means “stay awhile” in Scottish, is one of the oldest humane organizations in the country.  Founded in 1903 by Mrs. Flora Kibbe, Bideawee has been providing shelter, care and compassion to homeless animals for over 100 years. While adoption services are the cornerstone of our mission, Bideawee also offers a range of services from our full-service veterinary clinics, pet therapy programs, volunteer outreach programs to our Pet Memorial Parks.
